HomeBase — Registered office service

A registered office in Budapest —
your Kft’s seat, managed.

A Hungarian Kft must have a registered office (székhely) — this is not optional. HomeBase is Zenty’s own registered-office service: a Budapest address, official-mail receipt, digital scanning, and deadline-aware forwarding. Standalone at 10,000 HUF + VAT per month (≈ €25); bundled with the Kft tiers, several months are included.

The short answer

Every Hungarian Kft must declare a registered office (székhely) in Hungary in the commercial registry — it is a constitutive requirement, not a formality. HomeBase supplies that address in Budapest, receives the company’s official mail, digitises it the next working day, and notifies you of anything time-critical the day it arrives. It is offered standalone at 10,000 HUF + VAT per month (≈ €25), or bundled into the formation tiers.

HomeBase is a registered-office service regulated under Ministry of Justice Decree 7/2017. (VI. 1.) IM, accepted by the commercial court and NAV as a company’s registered office.

What HomeBase includes

A registered Budapest address

The company’s official registered office, as recorded in the commercial registry. An office setting, not a post-office box. The full address is disclosed at the point of contract.

Official-mail receipt

Mail arriving for the company — from NAV, the commercial court, the municipality, banks, and litigation correspondents — is received and digitised on the working day after it arrives.

Digital scanning and storage

Every inbound document is stored as a PDF in your Zenty account — searchable and available retrospectively. The paper original is held for 90 days and can be forwarded by post on request.

Urgent notifications

For time-critical documents (an official order, a NAV decision, litigation papers) you receive an email and a push notification on the day of receipt. Not three days later.

When HomeBase is the right choice

It fits when:

  • You have no property of your ownto serve as the company’s registered office, or the owner will not consent to a company being registered there.
  • You want a business address rather than your home addressin the registry — your residential address would otherwise be public, and the company’s official mail would arrive at your door.
  • You are a foreign founder with no Hungarian address. In that case a process agent (kézbesítési megbízott) is also required — part of the Zenty International tier.
  • Several of your companies need a shared registered office — HomeBase can extend across multiple companies.

It is not the right choice when:

  • The company genuinely operates from a physical office — the registered office belongs there.
  • The company routinely deals with a particular district tax authority or municipal administration — a registered office in a different district may be more practical.

How you get started

  1. Start the subscription — in your Zenty account, by card or bank transfer.
  2. Registry entry or change filing— for a new company, the HomeBase address appears automatically in the articles of association. To move an existing company’s registered office, the partner firm prepares the change-registration filing.
  3. Activate mail forwarding — the first inbound item appears in your account on the working day after it arrives.

Where the company is registered

A Hungarian company is registered by the registry court with jurisdiction over its registered seat. With a HomeBase registered office in Budapest, that court is the Budapest Metropolitan Court (Fővárosi Törvényszék Cégbírósága). The articles of association require attorney countersignature under § 6 of the Companies Act (Ctv.) and are filed electronically under § 36; for a new Kft the minimum share capital is 3,000,000 HUF under § 3:161 of the Civil Code (Ptk.). Registration typically takes 2–8 working days.

Data protection and liability

The HomeBase address is public in the commercial registry — Hungarian company law requires it. The contents of inbound mail, by contrast, are not public; Zenty processes them as a controller under strict access controls (details on the Privacy Policy page).

HomeBase does not provide a postal service within the meaning of the Postal Services Act. Mail is received under the general agency rules of the Civil Code (Ptk.), on the basis of the authorisation defined in the HomeBase agreement.

Foreign founder? One more thing is needed.

For foreign founders — those without a Hungarian residential address — Hungarian law also requires a process agent (kézbesítési megbízott): a Hungarian natural person or legal entity who receives official legal documents on behalf of the foreign owner.

  • Registered-office service (HomeBase): the company’s registered address and receipt of mail addressed to the company.
  • Process agent: receipt of legal documents addressed to the foreign owner personally.

The Zenty International tier includes both — for 12 months, together. A standalone process agent is 14,990 HUF per month.

How HomeBase relates to the company-name check

Before a company is registered at a HomeBase address, the chosen name must be distinguishable from existing registered names. Zenty’s company-name check is a manual, transactional service: you submit a proposed name and receive a considered reply within one working day. It is not an automatic or real-time registry search — a person reviews each request.

hello@zenty.hu
Where exactly is the HomeBase address?
The full address is disclosed at the point of contract — or, when HomeBase is bundled with a Kft formation, when the articles of association are issued. In general terms: a Budapest address in an office setting, not a post-office box.
Is a HomeBase address accepted by NAV as a registered office?
Yes. Under Hungarian company law (Ctv.) and NAV practice, an address provided through a registered-office service is accepted, provided the provider complies with Ministry of Justice Decree 7/2017. (VI. 1.) IM. HomeBase complies with that decree.
How do I move an existing company's registered office to HomeBase?
The change-registration request is prepared and filed by the partner law firm (a változásbejelentés to the commercial court). The process takes 2–5 working days. If the countersignature is performed by the partner firm, the change filing carries no procedural fee for Zenty Pro and International clients. Otherwise: a one-time 19,990 HUF fee.
What happens if an urgent official document arrives?
HomeBase digitises inbound mail on the working day after receipt and sends a notification. For time-critical documents (a NAV decision, litigation papers, an official order) a push notification is also sent on the day of receipt. If you do not open it in your account within 72 hours, a phone notification follows.
Can I cancel the HomeBase subscription?
Yes, with one month's notice. During the 30 days after cancellation the HomeBase address can no longer serve as the company's registered office — you either register a new registered office with the commercial court, or the company falls into a non-compliant state. Zenty sends a reminder 30 days before the cancellation takes effect.
